The group will meet again beginning Friday, August 14 - Sunday August 16 at Grape Creek RV Park in Westcliffe.

Happy Hour will begin at 6:00pm with a BYOS (bring your own snacks) since we are still under our covid rules.  We will let you know where this is happening after everyone gets there and is settled.  The clubhouse is not very big but is available for our use if the weather dictates we stay indoors.

Saturday morning begins with coffee hour at 9:00am, followed by our club meeting at 10:00am.  We will meet again to have dinner together (again bring your own) at 5:00pm.

There are no special activities planned in Westcliffe at this time but the wolf resource center is approximately 25 miles away and they are open on Saturdays.  Otherwise, please enjoy the mountains and the few small shops that are open.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Thanks Farris for the e-mail.. you are all set.  I finally confirmed with Becky at Circle the Wagons in La Veta the camping in October.  We are not going  to use the room or kitchen but can use the outside patio.  We can share food if we choose. Just need to follow state guide lines.  Moved Volkmann to site 33 for larger RV. Marcum has moved to 12 by river per their request.  Townes need to bring their own bedding for the cabin.

The campground will bring us free ice cream bars at dinner since they can not do the free breakfast.

I believe Hathaways are our co-host so call us please.. (using cell only now 641-0536)

I would like to still do a soup cook off to share with the group on Saturday night and maybe a group breakfast if you think this is ok.  let me know what you think. Snacks on friday night.

Group in October consist of:  SITE 24 FOR ISAACSON, SITE 12 MARCUM, site 26 BRODEUR, SITE 31  ROWLEY, SITE 32  KEANEY/BISHOP, SITE 33 FOR VOLKMANN, SITE  25 OR 37 FOR MCKINLEY, SITE 38 HALL, SITE 39 HATHAWAY, STE 40 TRAFTON, SITE 41 SMITH.  TOWNES IN CABIN.

If anyone needs to talk to Becky, 719-742-3233 just be nice.  She said she is really busy and thinks this is all settled with Good Luck Sams.

I neglected to request any Agenda items chapter members want to address.

Hello Good Sam's.   We're about to have our second of chapter campouts.  I'm really excited to go to Buena Vista again.  For those of you who visit our blog there may be incentives to do so coming up.  Stay tuned.

As you may have read in Harry's post of May 21st, it appears that the beer dock and county fair will not occur for 2020. The races will not likely happen either.  That brings me to ask what will become of the association between Good Luck Sam's and the County Fair for the future?

There are those within our chapter who no longer wish nor are able to participate at the beer dock.  Will we be able to meet the commitment and demands of the beer dock during the 2021 season?  Do we want as a chapter to continue working the beer dock?  These are questions I've heard throughout my term as President.

The survey offered has been ineffective so far. It was devised to allow input by chapter members who are reticent to discuss the topic openly. I find myself at a loss as how we might address the issue without acrimony.

We just received word that the Observatory in Westcliffe is closed for the rest of the year.  Therefore, the Star Party we had planned for August has been cancelled.  Camping will still go on so be sure to get your reservations in to Grape Creek.

The Fair Board & The Fair Grounds Corporation have met this week and I can report that there are no solid plans for the up coming summer events. We do believe there will be (hopefully) at least a 4H Fair, which means no spectators other than family. The next few weeks will determine what the final decision will be. Everything is in limbo waiting for the state to give us direction. At this point the we do know the races have been cancelled for June 13th.More to come as I know more. Harry

Another season starts as we’re all challenged by the Covid 19 virus. While this changes how we interact with social distancing, not having our pot lucks and inability to utilize campground amenities we’ll get through these times.  It’s comforting to know that we’re here for one another.  God bless our messes.
